Everything heading into Florida firmed this week. Chicago to Tampa rose 22% to $900–$1050, Boston to Miami 16% to $1200–$1350 and New York to Miami 9% to $1200–$1350 — and on both Miami lanes more cars were posted as the rate climbed, the likeliest sign of loads chasing trucks rather than carriers simply asking more. The run back out, Miami to Chicago, eased 10% to $850–$1000, the usual shape when trucks are being pulled south. New York to Miami is the busiest lane on the board, so book it early.
The western lanes mostly went the other way: Los Angeles to New York came off 11% to $1500–$1650, and Houston to Los Angeles, Seattle to Los Angeles and Phoenix to Chicago all eased — only Chicago to Los Angeles firmed, up 14% to $1200–$1300. The three Atlanta lanes held flat. Per road mile, Atlanta to Dallas pays best at about $1.05 over 787 miles and Houston to Los Angeles thinnest at about $0.49 over 1,536. If you have units waiting on the Los Angeles to New York run, this is a good week to move them.
