Terms of Service

The agreement between you and us when you ask us to move a vehicle. Written to describe how this service actually works — not a template.

Who “we” means

AutoMove is a service of Countrywide Express Inc. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Countrywide Express Inc, “the site” means automove.us, and “you” means the person or business asking us to arrange transport.

Using the site or asking us for a quote means you accept these terms.

What this service is — and what it is not

We arrange transport. We do not drive the truck. Your vehicle is carried by an independent motor carrier that we assign to the job. That carrier operates its own equipment under its own authority and insurance, and it employs the driver who collects and delivers your vehicle.

That distinction matters throughout these terms, so it is worth being plain about it: our job is to price the lane, assign a suitable carrier, sort the release paperwork, and keep you informed. The carrier’s job is the physical transport and the care of your vehicle while it is on their truck.

Quotes

A quote is a price for the job as you described it. It is an estimate until we confirm a booking with you in writing.

A quote can change if the facts change. The things that most often move a price:

  • The vehicle does not run. An inoperable vehicle needs a winch and takes longer to load. Tell us up front — it is the single most common reason a price changes at the gate.
  • Size or modifications. Lifted trucks, dual-wheel vehicles, roof racks, oversized tyres and anything unusually heavy or tall take space a standard slot does not have.
  • The pickup or delivery point moves, or is somewhere a full-size carrier physically cannot reach.
  • Access or timing changes — a gate that closes earlier than stated, or a location that turns out to be residential with no room to load.

If something changes after you book, we will tell you what it does to the price before anything moves. We do not adjust a confirmed price without telling you first.

Booking, changes and cancellation

A booking is confirmed when we tell you it is, and when a carrier has been assigned to it. Before that point, nothing is committed on either side.

You can cancel a booking at no cost until a carrier has been dispatched to collect the vehicle. Once a truck is en route to the pickup, cancelling may leave a charge for the wasted trip, and we will tell you what it is before you decide.

We may cancel a booking — and will refund anything you have paid for it — if we cannot find a carrier for the lane at the quoted price, if the vehicle turns out to be materially different from how it was described, or if the pickup location will not release it.

Timing

Transit times are estimates, not guarantees. We book a pickup window rather than a fixed hour, because a carrier is running a route with several vehicles on it and cannot promise a clock time days ahead. Weather, traffic, mechanical trouble, and the gate hours at either end all move the schedule.

We will give you a realistic window when we quote, and tell you when it changes. We will not promise a date we do not control, and no delivery estimate on this site or in an email from us is a contractual deadline.

Your vehicle: what we need from you

  • Describe it accurately. Year, make, model, and whether it runs, steers and brakes. An inoperable vehicle declared at booking is routine; one discovered at the gate is a failed pickup you may be charged for.
  • Have it ready. Roughly a quarter tank of fuel or less, no active leaks, tyres inflated, and a key available for the driver.
  • Empty it. Personal belongings are not covered by the carrier’s cargo insurance and should be removed. Anything you leave in the vehicle travels at your own risk.
  • Be reachable. Drivers call ahead. A missed call is the most common cause of a wasted pickup attempt.
  • Have the right to ship it. You confirm you own the vehicle or are authorised to send it.

Never load hazardous or illegal items. Firearms, flammable or explosive material, and anything unlawful must not be in the vehicle. If they are, the carrier may refuse the load or unload it, and you are responsible for what follows.

Auction pickups

Most of what we move comes out of Copart, IAA, ADESA or Manheim, and those yards have rules of their own that sit outside this agreement:

  • Payment and release are between you and the auction. A carrier cannot collect a vehicle the yard will not release, and we cannot release it on your behalf.
  • Storage fees are the auction’s, not ours. They usually start once your free window after payment runs out. Booking early is the way to avoid them.
  • Gate hours bind the carrier. A truck arriving after closing waits until the next business day.
  • Dealer sales release on account paperwork. At Manheim and ADESA the buying dealer’s account controls the release, so we need the buyer ID and lot number to arrange collection.

Insurance and claims

Your vehicle is covered in transit by the assigned carrier’s cargo insurance. We confirm that the carrier’s coverage is active before we dispatch them to collect your vehicle.

That coverage is the carrier’s, and a claim against it is made against the carrier. If you need to make one, this is how it works:

  • Inspect at delivery, before you sign. The bill of lading is the record of the vehicle’s condition at pickup and at delivery. Note any new damage on it and have the driver acknowledge it. This is the single most important thing you can do — damage noted on the bill of lading is straightforward to claim, and damage reported after a clean signed delivery is very difficult.
  • Photograph it at delivery, and at pickup if you are there.
  • Tell us promptly. Contact us at quotes@automove.us and we will give you the carrier’s details and help you file. We will chase it with them on your behalf.

Personal items left in the vehicle, pre-existing damage, mechanical or electrical faults that appear after transport, and damage caused by something inherent to the vehicle are not normally covered.

Limits on our responsibility

Our responsibility is to arrange your transport competently and honestly. We are responsible for the things we control: pricing the job on the facts you give us, assigning a carrier whose cargo coverage we have confirmed, and telling you the truth about timing.

We are not responsible for the driving itself, for delays outside anyone’s control, for auction storage fees, or for consequential losses — a missed sale, a rental car, lost income — arising from a shipment running late. Where we are found liable for something, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us to arrange that shipment.

Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Payment

We tell you the total, what is due when, and what is payable to the carrier at delivery if anything is. We will not add a fee you were not told about before you booked.

The site itself

Rates published on this site — including the weekly lane report — are market observations for the week they were published. They describe what lanes have been paying, not an offer to move your vehicle at that price. Ask for a quote for that.

We keep the site accurate and current, but we do not guarantee it is free of errors, or that it is available without interruption.

Your information

What we collect and why is set out in our Privacy Policy. The part worth repeating here: arranging transport necessarily means giving the assigned carrier your contact details and the pickup and delivery addresses, because the driver cannot do the job without them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force for your shipment is the one published when you booked it, and the date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and any dispute arising from them belongs in the courts of that state.

Talking to us

If something has gone wrong, tell us before anything else — most problems are fixable and we would rather fix them. Email quotes@automove.us or call (708) 888-0557.
